Leafi

A shelf for your manga, comics and books.

Need a hand? Write to gwendoleaf@gmail.com.

Questions, bugs and ideas all land in the same place, and I read every one.

Getting started

Add something

Tap + on the shelf. A title is the only thing Leafi insists on — everything else is optional. Covers come from your photo library, so the shelf looks like your shelf.

Find it again

Search by title, author or series. Tap the star on an item to favorite it, then filter the shelf down to just those.

Make it yours

The ••• menu on the shelf leads to two screens:

Your collection

Where is it stored?

On your device, and in your own iCloud account if iCloud is on. Leafi has no servers of its own, your collection is never sent anywhere else, and I have no access to what's in it.

What happens when I search for a book online?

The words you typed, or the ISBN you scanned, go to two public catalogs — Google Books and Open Library — which answer with book details and covers. Nothing about you goes with the question, and nothing of what's already in your collection does either. It only happens when you ask for it: everything else in the app works with no internet at all.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no password and no login. Leafi uses the iCloud account already signed in on your device.

The ••• menu says “iCloud is off”

The device is signed out of iCloud, or iCloud Drive is off for Leafi. The app keeps working and saves everything locally — it just won't reach your other devices. Check Settings → your name → iCloud, and make sure iCloud Drive is on and Leafi is allowed.

The ••• menu says “Sync unavailable”

Something is blocking iCloud at that moment: no connection, a full iCloud account, or Apple's service having a bad day. It usually clears on its own. If it stays for more than a day, write to me.

I added something on my iPhone and it hasn't shown up on my iPad

Sync isn't instant. Both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple Account, online, and to have opened Leafi at least once since the change. Leaving the app open for a minute on the second device usually does it.

I deleted the app. Is my collection gone?

No, as long as iCloud was on. Reinstall Leafi, sign in to the same Apple Account and open the app — the collection comes back on its own. Give it a minute.

If iCloud was off, the collection lived only on that device, and deleting the app took it with them.

How do I delete everything?

Delete the app from your device. To remove the iCloud copy as well, go to Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage and delete the Leafi data.

Turning on Share With App Developers in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements also sends crash reports through Apple. They're anonymous and never contain your collection.

Privacy

Leafi collects nothing about you: no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party software of any kind. Your collection lives in your own iCloud account, where I can't reach it. The only thing that ever leaves your device is a book search you asked for, and it carries nothing about you.
